Our lives are incredibly brief and our bodies are temporary vessels. As the candleheads burn, they become unstable and fall to the floor. This work is a memento mori that mimics both the ritual of the birthday cake, and the ceremonial religious candle display. The piece is both celebratory and somber in its acknowledgement of the transient nature of the body.
